OSES2017 EVENT THUMBNAIL

The conference included contributions from over 35 Speakers from 10 different countries and featured topics such as leading edge underwater compressed air, liquid air energy storage combined with pumped thermal energy storage, flexing desalination processes to match the availability of wind resources, integrating wave energy with offshore wind power plants, integrating uranium collection with offshore wind farms, novel inspection methods for monitoring offshore structures; and for the first time, an examination of market structures and financial toolsets required to see these projects through to successful commercialization.

Offshore Energy Generation Technologies are flourishing globally, as the U.S. rapidly accelerates their own offshore sector.  The outstanding, and severely under-utilized, potential that offshore regions present is finally coming to light.  Wind, wave, current, thermal, and mineral resources hold promise for critical answers to energy, water, and chemical challenges of our future.  The full realization of this potential will require strategic integration of enabling technologies like energy storage, and vital value adds like desalination and mineral harvesting to enable more reliable, and ultimately dispatchable clean, efficient, and economic energy, water, and mineral resource solutions for the planet.
